The coastline of Oregon is a series of unbelievably breath-taking vistas. Large rock formations dot the ocean as you make your way along the coast, like clouds floating in the sky. The more imaginative of us can laze around interpreting the shapes, while others can satisfy themselves by deciphering those already named: Haystack rock, Face rock, Whaleshead and the Devils Punchbowl among them.

The road that snakes down along the coast is littered with pull offs where you can stop and take in the beauty and the occasional sea lion, or head down to the beach and search for treasures in the tide pools.

See more pictures of the West Coast trip: the San Francisco layover, Crater LakeRogue River, Oregon beaches, Mt Hood and more! And don't forget to take a look at the packing guide
