We decided to hop over to Vancouver, BC, from Seattle since we were in the area. The Amtrak Cascades connects the 2 cities, and although it's not quite up to par with trains in Japan, it definitely beat driving up and offered gorgeous scenic views.
Unfortunately, it rained almost the whole time we were there, so instead of spending the day at Stanley Park, we ended up desperately searching for a mall (there seems to be one major mall and it was closed for construction) and finally ended up at the Public Market on Granville Island and taking the cute, little aquabus back to the station.

Check out pictures from San FranciscoCrater Lake, the Oregon Coastline and Beaches, Rogue River, Mt Hood, the Redwoods, Multnomah Falls, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and it's geysers and springs, Artist's PointPortland (OR), and Seattle
