The Gold Coast truly deserves its name. Beaches everywhere - every suburb is basically the name of a beach. And apart from Surfer's Paradise which has all the skyscrapers, the Gold Coast is mainly 1 or 2-storey buildings. I was there for just 4 days, and went to a different beach every morning. Highly recommended: D.Bar (local way of calling Duranbah Beach), home to the Quicksilver Pro competition (I was there a week before that), and the d'bar cafe serves phenomenal breakfasts!
Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to go into the Hinterlands... next time!
Inspiration
- the ocean
- the lush vegetation
- the beautiful, colorful flowers
It's fantastically hot and quite humid, and the endless beaches mean sand and salty air. So cotton and other easy-maintenance fabrics are better for the day time - especially if you're keen on going in for a dip and/or covering yourself up with sunscreen.
As for shoes, obviously thongs/flip flops are recommended for the beach, but any other shoes are fine for any other time since the . Please keep in mind that many bars will not accept people in flip flops.
Have a great day!
